WHAT CAUSES TRIP HAZARDS?

Sidewalk trip hazards can be caused by a variety of things, such as uneven pavement, tree roots, or broken and cracked concrete. In general, anything that obstructs the path of a pedestrian and makes it difficult for them to walk safely on the sidewalk can cause a trip hazard. Additionally, poor lighting or other factors that make it difficult to see the ground can also increase the likelihood of tripping.

CAN OUR SERVICES EFFECT YOUR INSURANCE PRICE?

It is possible that using a trip hazard repair service could potentially affect insurance premiums. Insurance companies often consider the overall risk level of a property when determining premiums, and addressing trip hazards could potentially reduce the risk of accidents or injuries occurring on the property. However, it is important to note that the specific impact on insurance premiums will vary depending on the insurance company and the specifics of the policy. It may be beneficial to speak with your insurance provider to determine if using a trip hazard repair service could potentially affect your premiums.

HOW MUCH CAN A TRIP AND FALL LAWSUIT COST YOU?

In California, the average settlement for slip and fall cases ranges from $15,000 to $50,000. The outcome of these cases can be influenced by a variety of factors, including the severity of the injury, lost wages, and the presence of negligence. In some cases, additional damages for pain and suffering or punitive damages may also be awarded. These factors are taken into consideration when determining the final settlement amount.

WHAT DOES BEING ADA COMPLIANT MEAN?

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a federal law that prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities. To be ADA compliant means that a building, or other facility meets the guidelines set forth in the ADA for accessibility by individuals with disabilities. This includes things like providing wheelchair ramps for buildings, sites are hazard free, parking areas are suitable for disabled persons etc. Being ADA compliant is important because it helps ensure that everyone, regardless of their abilities, has equal access to information and resources.

HOW IMPORTANT IS REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION?

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires that buildings and facilities be accessible to people with disabilities. This includes both public and privately-owned buildings, such as apartment buildings and condominiums.

In the context of housing, a reasonable accommodation is any change to the rules, policies, practices, or services that would allow a person with a disability equal opportunity to use and enjoy a dwelling. For example, a resident in an apartment building who uses a wheelchair may request a reasonable accommodation such as a ramp to be installed at the entrance to the building, or for a designated parking space to be made available closer to the entrance.

It is the responsibility of the landlord or building owner to make reasonable accommodations for residents with disabilities, unless doing so would cause an undue hardship. An undue hardship is any accommodation that would be too difficult or expensive to provide, considering the size of the building or property and its resources. Factors that may be considered in determining whether an accommodation would be an undue hardship include the nature and cost of the accommodation, the overall financial resources of the building or property, and the impact of the accommodation on the operation of the building or property.
